| Sullivan tours Colchester businessesBy CHARLES EDENBURN The Bulletin Gales Ferry resident Sean Sullivan knows he will need plenty of support in town to effectively challenge incumbent Congressman Joe Courtney in this year's race for the Second Congressional District. Sullivan spent May 21 campaigning in downtown Colchester, where he visited Noel's Marketplace and received a tour of S&S Worldwide. He was accompanied by Republican Town Chairman Gregg Schuster and Andrew Powaleny, communications director for Sullivan. Sullivan spoke with prospective voters throughout the day and said he hopes the key points of his campaign will strike a chord with voters on election day. | Sullivan takes on Courtney By Amanda Pinto, Register Staff MADISON — When Sean Sullivan visited several businesses along Boston Post Road Tuesday, he relayed a simple message: “I’m a Republican, I’m running for Congress and I want to change things.” Sullivan of Ledyard, who is challenging Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2, is a retired naval commander and political newcomer. He toured Madison to introduce himself and hear what’s on residents’ minds. It’s an effort he has mirrored in several of the district’s 65 towns, in hopes of boosting name recognition and familiarizing voters with issues, spokesman Andrew Powaleny said.
